CARH Recertification

To maintain the CARH credential, certificants must recertify every 5 years through one of two options: by earning professional development points or by re-examination.

Option 1: Recertify by Professional Development Points

Earn 75 points across the 5-year certification cycle. Points may be earned through:

  • Accredited and non-accredited CE

  • Conferences, teaching, or presenting

  • Higher education coursework

  • Participation in validated quality improvement or research projects

Note: Only renal healthcare-related activities that align with CARH exam content are accepted.

Option 2: Recertify by Exam

Certificants may take the current CARH certification exam within 12 months before expiration. You may take the exam up to 2 times within this period.

⚠️ If you do not pass within the allowed attempts, you must reapply under initial eligibility requirements.

Fees & Deadlines

Submit the online application with supporting documentation.

  • RHA Member: $250

  • Non-Member: $350

  • Late submissions: $100 late fee within 60-day grace period

  • No recertification allowed after 90 days post-expiration
