Based in La Crosse, Wisconsin, Jessica's journey into renal healthcare began after working in inpatient rehabilitation. Following the birth of her first son, she transitioned into dialysis and quickly discovered a passion for the specialty. Over the years, she gained experience caring for inpatient, acute kidney injury (AKI), and chronic outpatient dialysis patients before earning her BSN and stepping into a clinical leadership role in 2015. Today, she oversees three dialysis units and is completing her Master of Science in Nursing with a focus on Organizational Leadership.
.
Jessica says one of the greatest benefits of her RHA membership is access to education and a trusted network of peers. She regularly utilizes RHA's Education Station for staff development while taking advantage of webinars and meetups to continue her own professional growth. Just as importantly, she values having a community of colleagues she can turn to for guidance, collaboration, and support.
.
That commitment to continuous learning has also benefited her organization. Jessica and her team now use RHA's Fundamentals of Dialysis and Patient Care program as part of their staff orientation, and she credits RHA with expanding her knowledge of renal billing while providing a valuable support network for navigating the complexities of dialysis operations.
.
When asked what advice she would give to new dialysis leaders, Jessica emphasized the importance of asking questions, building a strong network, and never stopping the pursuit of knowledge. She encourages new leaders to understand the regulations, seek guidance from experienced colleagues, and remember to care for themselves along the way.
.
Outside of work, Jessica enjoys spending time with her husband, Dan, their two sons, Zach and Luke, their two Labrador retrievers, and staying active through skiing, mountain biking, running, and time with family and friends.
