Renal Healthcare PAC

Renal Healthcare PAC

Renal Healthcare Association, formerly known as the National Renal Administrators Association (NRAA) created the Political Action Committee in 1991 as a voluntary and non-profit committee of members of Renal Healthcare Association and their families. The Renal Heathcare PAC maintains independence from affiliation with any political party or other political committees.

By establishing the PAC, Renal Healthcare Association can enlist support from its membership, staff and others within the ESRD community to better educate federal policymakers about the issues surrounding the practice of renal administration, including the issues that impact ESRD patients’ ability to afford life-saving dialysis treatments, and the need for adequate reimbursement for the ESRD program and the impact of Congressional action on ESRD facilities and their patients.

The Renal Healthcare PAC is essential for strengthening our members' voice on behalf of community-based and independent dialysis providers by increasing our engagement in political activities, opening additional lines of communication with Members of Congress and their staffs, and allowing us to compete with interest groups and other organizations that support candidates whose efforts would use the Medicare ESRD program as an offset to future Medicare SGR bills or other legislation,  and prevent adequate reimbursement that is essential to maintain patients’ access and choice of provider.

The Renal Healthcare PAC will demonstrate the industry’s collective support for those candidates for federal public office who in turn support the causes for which Renal Healthcare Association advocates every day.

The purposes of the Renal Healthcare PAC are:

  • To authorize contributions from funds to candidates for national office without regard to political party affiliation.  The contributions will be made to candidates who have demonstrated an interest and support to the ESRD community. The funds will be received voluntarily from members and other individuals interested in the promotions of the goals of Renal Healthcare Association.
  • To assist Renal Healthcare Association in representing the professional interests of renal administrators as a national representative spokesperson for the development and implementation of public policy.
  • To increase Renal Healthcare Association member awareness of the political issues, the candidates involved, and their records on ESRD and healthcare-related issues of importance to Renal Healthcare Association.
